Happy Labor Day to the ones that build this economy without recognition. The ones that feel the constant pressure to prove their humanity to a society that overlooks sacrifices and enjoys the fruits of hard labor.
This world ain’t the same for everyone. Some of us have to work three times harder to prove we are worthy of any opportunity.
On this Labor Day, we are grateful for the labor of those that are often forgotten about. Grateful for the labor that is the backbone of this economy.
An Update
Since her post about her health few weeks ago, many of you have reached out asking how you might be able to support Alix right now. Thank you. Her family recently launched a GoFundMe for her mounting medical bills. Any contributions are welcomed.
Two other quick updates:
We are sending someone a signed copy of Anna Lekas Miller’s book, Love Across Borders. Like or comment on either part of our interview with Anna here or here to be entered. We’ll randomly pick the winner on September 15th.
Lastly, we wanted recirculate our contributor guidelines. We are always looking for interested writers, artists, poets, and storytellers to share your work at La Cuenta.
If you have never published or feel apprehensive about sharing your work, please get in touch. We would love to work with you.
We will see you again on Thursday!
