Testimonios de Esperanza
Even in perilous times, we are choosing to center joyful, immigrant family storytelling.
We are excited to share today that La Cuenta is partnering on a new research project through Stanford University. We are looking for families to participate.
Testimonios de Esperanza is an online writing community of parents and their children that will come together this summer and meet monthly for a year. We will write, record, draw, and produce stories together about our families and cultural experiences.
Who Should Sign Up
We are looking for immigrant parents (from any background) of school-aged children who will participate in monthly online meetings alongside their children. Together, you will share stories you create together with other families.
Participation in this project is confidential, and you and your child will each receive $1000 for participation in this year-long project.
The summer launch dates for this project are:
August 7, 5:30-7:30pm PST
August 8, 5:30-7:30pm PST
August 16, 9am-1pm PST
(All meetings after August will happen one day per month and will be based on family availability.)
Space is limited to 10 families. Express your interest here.
If you have any questions, please send an email to antero.garcia@stanford.edu.
Propina
It has been incredible seeing The Cost of Being Undocumented out in the world over the past week. Thank you all who came to our recent events at Octavia’s Bookshelf and Bel Canto. We will be in Pomona at Café Con Libros on July 5th and would love to see you there (or any other dates)!
If you’ve read or listened to the book, please consider leaving a review, like this one on Audible:
We’ll see you next week.
